DESCRIPTION

CREATING A GLOBAL BENCHMARKING REPORT OF TOURISM OBSERVATORIES

The Organization of Latin America & Caribbean Tourism OLACT in cooperation with the International Foundation for Development of Reliable Governments (FIDEGOC) in Mexico started working on the development of a methodology for a system of tourism observatories for multiple destinations in Mexico. This system identified indicators to measure the local tourism activity, publish data and make studies that will allow the private industry and local and national governments to make better strategic decisions and better tourism policies adapted to the needs of local destinations.
TOPOSOPHY experts were called to contribute with their international insights and practical experience at the initiation phase of this two year project, adding to the development of a global benchmarking report of tourism observatories system development models which would serve as the basis for the model adapted for Mexican destinations.
